The dataset presented in this study (including case descriptions, coding, and source documentation) is proprietary and may only be used, reproduced, or distributed with explicit written permission from the author. The data shall not be copied, shared, or repurposed for secondary analyses, publications, or derivative works without prior authorization. Researchers seeking access must contact the author directly to request permission and to ensure appropriate use and citation of the dataset. Unauthorized use is prohibited.

This dataset was passively collected during ongoing research for the K–12 School Shooting Database. It is not a comprehensive list of all averted attacks, nor does it claim to represent all cases nationwide. Each entry is based on publicly available news reporting at the time of collection, and details may have changed as cases evolved through investigation, legal proceedings, or correction by media outlets. Readers should interpret the dataset as a descriptive sample for research purposes, not a finalized or exhaustive record.
